The Küçüksu Pavilion, also known as Göksu Pavilion, is one of the must-see historical landmarks in Istanbul. It was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecit …
The House of Virgin Mary, an important part of the ancient city of Ephesus, is located on the peaceful slopes of Bülbüldağ, just 7 kilometers from the town of Selçuk. Considered one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the Christian world, the site was discovered following the visions of a Catholic nun and has since become a major destination for religious tourism.
Built with a cruciform plan and a domed structure, the House of Virgin Mary has been carefully restored in accordance with its original design. The site was visited by Pope Paul VI in 1967, and religious ceremonies are held here every August.
It is believed that Mary, the mother of Jesus, spent her final years and passed away in this house, which is why it is regarded as sacred. Visitors are also drawn to the nearby spring, believed to have healing properties. With its simple interior, wishing wall, and serene atmosphere, the House of Virgin Mary is a must-see spiritual landmark during any visit to Selçuk.
