Agora Open Air Museum, located in the heart of İzmir, is a historical treasure that can be easily explored thanks to its central location. Situated in the Basmane district of Konak and also known as the Agora of Smyrna, the site was built in the 2nd century AD during the Roman period and served as the city’s main marketplace.

Constructed on three levels, the agora is considered one of the best-preserved examples in the region. Numerous significant artifacts uncovered during archaeological excavations highlight its historical value. In 2020, the site was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List as part of the “Historic Port City of İzmir.” Agora offers visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time right in the middle of the modern city.
