Hagia Sophia Museum, one of the masterpieces of world architectural history, is a must-visit landmark in Istanbul. Its origins trace back to the era of Byzantine Emperor Constantine I, and it served as a church for 916 years. In 1453, by the order of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, it was converted into a mosque and remained in use for 482 years. During the Republican era, under the directive of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and a decision by the Council of Ministers, it was transformed into a museum. Today, Hagia Sophia offers visitors a captivating experience, showcasing both Byzantine and Ottoman architectural heritage.
