Nasreddin Hodja Tomb
← Back to list

One of Konya’s most iconic landmarks, the Nasreddin Hodja Mausoleum, has managed to preserve its presence despite numerous restorations and modifications over the centuries. Believed to have been built in the 14th century, the mausoleum features a polygonal design with 12 supporting pillars and six round columns, forming a portico-like structure.

Although the mausoleum is open on all four sides, one side is locked with a padlock—a detail that is often interpreted as a reflection of Nasreddin Hodja’s unique sense of humor. In front of the tomb, there is a platform symbolizing the “center of the world,” offering visitors both a historical and whimsical experience.
