Yedikule Dungeons
← Back to list

One of Istanbul’s and Turkey’s oldest open-air museums, the Yedikule Dungeons is also known as Yedikule Fortress due to its tower-like appearance. Originally, Yedikule was not built as a dungeon but was designed to impress and welcome visiting kings from Rome. After the conquest of Istanbul, Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror added three more towers, giving the fortress its current seven-tower structure.
