Xanthos is an ancient city located on a hill overlooking the Esen River, where Lycian and Roman acropolises come together. The first settlement of the city is estimated to date back to around 1200 BCE.

Built on a natural slope with a stunning view, the Xanthos Theater can accommodate approximately 8,000 to 10,000 spectators, making it one of the largest and most significant ancient theaters in the Lycian region. In ancient times, it was used for cultural events, theatrical performances, and various ceremonies. Its architecture and construction details represent one of the finest examples of engineering and artistic skill from antiquity.

Welcoming thousands of visitors every year, Xanthos Ancient Theater is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains a must-see destination for history enthusiasts.
