Located on Atatürk Avenue in Alsancak, the Atatürk House Museum operates in a historic Ottoman mansion built in 1880. The building served as a headquarters for the Turkish army during the War of Independence and also hosted the İzmir Economic Congress in 1923.
In 1926, the mansion was purchased by the İzmir Municipality and presented to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. It became one of the residences where Atatürk stayed during his visits to İzmir. After his passing, the building was converted into a museum and opened to the public in 1941.
Today, the museum displays Atatürk’s personal belongings, significant documents, period furniture, elegantly decorated rooms, and a library. With its strong historical significance and rich collections, the Atatürk House Museum is one of İzmir’s must-see landmarks.
