The Küçüksu Pavilion, also known as Göksu Pavilion, is one of the must-see historical landmarks in Istanbul. It was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecit …
The İzmir Clock Tower, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, was built in 1901 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II’s accession to the throne. Located at the entrance of Kemeraltı Bazaar and right next to the Konak Yalı Mosque, the four-story tower rises 25 meters high and stands as the focal point of Konak Square.
Designed by a renowned French architect, the tower was constructed from finely cut stone and adorned with elegant stone carvings, setting it apart from other Ottoman clock towers. The four fountains surrounding the structure and the columns inspired by North African architecture add to its visual appeal. Featuring the engraved tughra of Sultan Abdülhamid II and covering a base area of 81 square meters, the İzmir Clock Tower is a must-see monument and a perfect spot for memorable photos before leaving the city.
