Miletus Theater
← Back to list

Miletus Theatre is one of the most impressive historical landmarks in Aydın and holds great importance not only for Didim but for the entire region. Located near the village of Balat, the theatre stands within an ancient settlement believed to date back to around 2000 BC. Over the centuries, it has undergone various renovations and expansions, allowing it to survive to the present day.

Originally built during the Hellenistic period and later enlarged in Roman times, the theatre is especially famous for its exceptional acoustics. Even the softest sounds from the stage can be clearly heard from the upper rows. The front seating areas were once reserved for priests and high-ranking officials. Miletus Theatre is also conveniently located near other significant sites such as the Faustina Baths, Saplı Island, and the Çine Valley.
