Rumeli Fortress, also known as Boğazkesen Castle, is one of Istanbul’s most striking historical sites, offering stunning views of the Bosphorus. Located on the shores of the strait, it was built in 1452 by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror to control ships passing through the Bosphorus.

Opened as a museum under the administration of the Fortresses Museum Directorate in 1968, Rumeli Fortress is open to visitors every day except Monday from 09:00 to 19:00.
