Marmaris Castle and Museum
← Back to list
Marmaris Castle is one of the most iconic landmarks shaping the skyline of Marmaris. Believed to have been originally built during the Ionian period, the castle was later restored and expanded under the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Although it suffered significant damage during World War I, the structure has survived and remains an important historical monument.
Converted into a museum in 1991, the castle now hosts ethnography halls, exhibition spaces, an art gallery, and storage areas. The museum displays numerous artifacts from the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods. Marmaris Castle and Museum is open to visitors every day except Mondays, between 08:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with an entrance fee.
